How Often Should You Service Your Bike?

Whether you’re a daily commuter, an avid racer, or just love a leisurely weekend rider, regular servicing is the key to keeping your bike running smoothly (and saving you money in the long run). But how often should you be booking in? And what type of service does your bike actually need?

We’ve broken it down so you can spend less time wondering and more time riding.

The Short Answer:

As a rule of thumb, you should book a standard service every 6 months — or every 4,000km — whichever comes first. If you're riding daily, racing regularly, or riding in all-weather conditions, it’s worth checking in more often.

The Longer Answer:

Every Ride:

  • Check tyre pressure
  • Quick brake check
  • Chain lubrication

(You can do this at home or pop into the shop — we're happy to help.)

*Each month we would recommend checking your chain and brake pad wear.

Every 3–6 Months:

This is the sweet spot for most riders. Whether you're commuting, doing weekend loops, or riding casually, you want the peace of mind that everything is dialed.

→ We recommend our Standard Service:

  • Full bike inspection
  • All bolts checked and tightened
  • Gears and brakes tuned
  • Chain lubed
  • Pivot points lubed
  • BB, headset and hubs checked
  • Wheels checked
  • Tyres pumped
  • Test ridden

A solid reset to keep your bike feeling sharp and responsive. Recommended for regular riders and seasonal servicing.

*If you're running a tubeless setup 3 months is the perfect time to top up your sealant.

Every 6–12 Months:

If you’re riding more frequently or heading into a big season, it’s worth giving your bike a deeper refresh.

→ Check out our Superb Service which includes:

  • Everything in the Standard Service
  • Complete bike wash
  • Chain stripped and re-lubed with Squirt wax lube (15ml bottle included)
  • Bottom bracket + headset serviced

Perfect for bikes that have seen some serious kilometers or messy weather. Recommended for commuters, high-mileage riders, or annual deep cleans.

Every 12 Months or Big Season Change:

This is your full reset. Get your bike back to like-new condition — especially if you’re prepping for races or have Di2, hydraulic brakes, or high-end gear.

→ Our Superior Service offering includes:

  • Everything in the Superb Service
  • Wheels trued and re-tensioned
  • Both hubs serviced
  • Brakes bled (if hydraulic)
  • Di2/AXS diagnostics carried out (if applicable)

This is our most comprehensive option — ideal for racers, tech-heavy bikes, and those who want their bike performing at its absolute best.

Before a Big Ride or Event:

Sometimes all you need is a quick dial-in before hitting the road.

→ Race Day Prep – $80

  • Derailleurs tuned
  • Brakes tuned
  • All bolts torque checked
  • Tyres pumped
  • Test ridden

Great for race day, travel prep, or if your bike feels just slightly off but not in need of a full overhaul.
